West Ham Manager David Moyes Claims They Possess a Superior £100M Player to Declan Rice, Potentially of Interest to Arsenal

West Ham manager David Moyes has expressed confidence in the value of Jarrod Bowen, stating that the winger is now considered a £100 million player and is as crucial to the team as Declan Rice. The club is determined not to entertain offers for Bowen during the January transfer window, highlighting their commitment to keeping the England international. Bowen signed a seven-year contract in October, solidifying his future with West Ham until 2030.

Dean Jones, a transfer insider, explained that West Ham’s decision to place a substantial price tag on Bowen is influenced by the winger’s long-term commitment to the club. Bowen’s new contract, worth £120,000 per week, positions him as one of the highest earners at West Ham. Despite interest from Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Liverpool, Bowen opted to stay with the Hammers, showcasing his loyalty and belief in the club’s vision.

In terms of performance, Bowen has been a standout player, contributing significantly in the final third. With 11 goals and four assists in 21 appearances this season, he has been a key factor in West Ham’s positive run. Notably, Bowen reached a milestone by scoring his 50th goal for the club in a recent match against Tottenham Hotspur. Additionally, he has adapted to different roles, including a stint as a center-forward during Michail Antonio’s absence.

Jones acknowledged that clubs would likely pursue Bowen if he maintains his current form, but West Ham’s intention is to deter any potential suitors by setting a high valuation. Drawing a comparison to the situation with Declan Rice, who was sold to Arsenal for £105 million in the summer, Jones emphasized that West Ham had no intention of losing Bowen and would place a substantial price tag on him.

While Bowen’s value has soared since his arrival from Hull City four years ago for £22 million, West Ham is reportedly looking to sell Pablo Fornals in the upcoming January transfer window. Fornals, an attacking midfielder, has seen limited playing time this season, prompting West Ham to consider his departure to generate funds for squad reinforcements. Despite triggering a one-year contract extension, Fornals is open to a move back to Spain, with interest from Saudi Arabian clubs during the summer.
