**Bayern Munich Face Setbacks in Search for Left-Wing Reinforcements as Transfer Targets Slip Away**
Bayern Munich are encountering serious challenges in their pursuit of reinforcements on the wing, particularly on the left flank, as their top summer targets edge closer to deals with rival clubs. The Bundesliga giants are facing mounting pressure to strengthen in that area, especially with Leroy Sané expected to leave the club on a free transfer to Turkish side Galatasaray.
The club had initially identified a number of high-potential players to fill the void left by Sané. However, two of Bayern’s main targets — Nico Williams and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens — now appear increasingly unlikely to make the switch to Munich. Both players are on the verge of joining other major European clubs, leaving Bayern in a precarious position as they attempt to rebuild under new leadership.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, the talented English winger currently at Borussia Dortmund, has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Chelsea. The Premier League side, now managed by Enzo Maresca, have moved quickly to secure the 19-year-old’s services. Meanwhile, Nico Williams — another highly rated winger — is close to joining FC Barcelona. Despite ongoing financial constraints at the Catalan club, sources indicate they are optimistic about registering Williams thanks to a €40 million funding boost from Libero Football Finance, which is earmarked for the 2025/26 campaign.
With both targets slipping away, Bayern are now being forced to look elsewhere. The attention has shifted toward the Premier League, particularly Liverpool’s attacking options. Sporting director Max Eberl is reportedly exploring alternatives, and according to Christian Falk, a well-connected Bundesliga journalist, Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo has emerged as a top target. Gakpo, who had a strong season under Arne Slot, has reportedly caught Eberl’s eye and was the subject of preliminary discussions. Although talks with Gakpo’s camp have reportedly stalled, Bayern have not closed the door on the possibility of reviving negotiations.
In addition to Gakpo, Colombian international Luis Díaz is also being monitored closely by Bayern. Both players are coming off productive seasons, with a combined tally of 35 goals and 15 assists. Their proven output at a high level makes them appealing options as Bayern seek reliable attacking quality.
Nevertheless, acquiring either player will not be straightforward. Gakpo remains under contract with Liverpool until 2028 and continues to play a key role at Anfield. Unless the Dutchman signals a desire to move, or Bayern submit a compelling offer, Liverpool are unlikely to sanction a sale.
