Arsenal legend Ian Wright enthusiastically celebrated Arsenal’s dramatic 4-3 victory against Luton, highlighted by Declan Rice’s injury-time winner. Wright, reacting passionately in a video posted by Optus Sport, was captured leaping out of his chair and shouting with joy as Rice scored in the seventh minute of injury time.

In the midst of his jubilation, Wright took a playful jab at James Maddison. Referring to a news story from The Mirror, he chuckled at Maddison’s reported comment expressing admiration for Rice’s talent but admitting to “hating” him for joining Arsenal. This banter added an entertaining twist to Wright’s exuberant celebration.

The thrilling match saw Arsenal trailing before making a comeback to level the score at 3-3, with Kai Havertz contributing to the equalizer in the 60th minute. The climax arrived when Rice, Arsenal’s summer signing, rose to meet a cross from Martin Odegaard, securing the victory with a decisive header. The late winner prompted scenes of joy among Arsenal fans, both at Kenilworth Road and in the studio, where Wright couldn’t contain his excitement.

Having joined Arsenal for a landmark £105 million in the summer, Rice has made a significant impact, impressing with three Premier League goals. Wright, a former Arsenal star, expressed sheer delight at Rice’s performance and the team’s triumph, repeatedly shouting “Arsenal! Arsenal!” while waving his arms and head in elation.

The banter between Wright and Maddison added a layer of humor to the celebration. Maddison, who had moved to Tottenham earlier in the season after Leicester’s relegation, had previously stated his dislike for Rice playing at Arsenal. However, in a recent interview on Amazon Prime, Maddison praised Rice’s technical ability, acknowledging him as a “top, top player.”

Despite Maddison’s injury keeping him out of action until at least the new year, his positive remarks about Rice’s skills showcased mutual respect among players, even amid friendly rivalry between clubs. The dynamic between the two players, as interpreted by Wright, added an entertaining narrative to the overall celebration.

Rice’s 22 appearances for Arsenal since joining have earned him praise, with fans dubbing him as “ridiculous.” The victory against Luton further solidified his impact on the team. As the excitement unfolded on the field, Ian Wright’s wild celebration became a memorable moment, capturing the thrill of a late-game triumph for Arsenal.
