Manager Warns Against Playing £45 Million Arsenal Star on Sunday to Avoid Manchester City’s Humiliation, Urges Caution to Save Job

Kevin Campbell, a commentator on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, cautioned against rushing Thomas Partey back into action for Arsenal’s match against Manchester City. Partey, a £45 million acquisition, had resumed training but was not yet fit for the upcoming game, according to Campbell.

He stressed the importance of not jeopardizing Partey’s fitness by playing him prematurely, emphasizing that there would be numerous future matches where Partey’s presence in the midfield would be crucial. Campbell pointed out that Declan Rice’s excellent performance in the midfield further supported the decision to hold off on using Partey.

While sitting out a player of Partey’s caliber in a significant match against Manchester City seemed risky, Campbell believed Arsenal might manage without him, especially with Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri absent from Man City’s lineup, diminishing the midfield competition.

The potential advantage of not risking Partey’s health in the early stages of the season, considering its length, was highlighted.

The forthcoming clash between Arsenal and Manchester City was touted as a critical one, possibly defining the season for both teams. As early Premier League pace-setters, emerging victorious in this match would serve as a strong declaration of their intentions.

However, Arsenal faced selection challenges, particularly concerning their goalkeeper choice and contingency plans for the talented Bukayo Saka, should he face an injury. There were also ongoing debates about whether Thomas Partey, recovering from an injury, should be in the starting lineup. The prevailing sentiment, echoed by Kevin Campbell, was to exercise caution and prioritize Partey’s long-term fitness over the immediate need for his contribution in this high-stakes encounter.

In conclusion, the decision not to rush Thomas Partey into the Manchester City match was a prudent one, considering the potential risks associated with prematurely pushing an unfit player onto the pitch.

Arsenal weighed the importance of the game against the need to preserve the health and effectiveness of a significant asset, ultimately opting for a cautious approach. Only time would tell if this strategy would pay off in the ongoing football season.
