Fabrizio Romano recently provided an update on Tyrell Malacia, the full-back for Manchester United, shedding light on the current circumstances surrounding the player.
Malacia has been noticeably absent from the United squad since the previous season, raising concerns about his prolonged absence, particularly as he hasn’t been active on social media since July 2023.
According to reports from Fussball News journalist Christopher Michel, Malacia is facing challenges related to both his physical and mental well-being.
Romano has disclosed that Malacia is experiencing significant difficulties, prompting United to consider providing clarity on the situation in the upcoming weeks or months.
Speaking on The United Stand, Romano shared his insights, stating, “It’s a really tough time for the player. He’s going through a really tough period. I think Manchester United will look to provide some clarity in the coming weeks or months to explain what’s going on.”
Malacia’s extended absence has led to speculation on various social media platforms.
Despite this, United officials confirmed Malacia’s participation in team bonding activities, indicating that he remains part of the squad’s social fabric.
However, United manager Erik ten Hag recently revealed that he expects Malacia to remain sidelined for the remainder of the season due to injury.
Despite returning to training, ten Hag acknowledged setbacks in Malacia’s recovery process, casting doubt on his availability for the remaining matches of the current season.
Efforts have been made by SoccerWeb to reach out to Malacia’s representatives and Manchester United for further clarification on the matter.
Malacia’s absence has coincided with injuries to United’s primary left-back, Luke Shaw, who has made limited appearances in the Premier League this season due to a muscle injury.
In response to the shortage in the left-back position, United secured Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in September.
Reguilon returned to Tottenham in January before subsequently joining Brentford on a temporary basis.
